Exploring the question of What Jesus Would Do in response to social conditions in the American South requires revisiting our past history in the United States.   Most of us have forgotten much of what we learned in school about American history.  Some parts of our history were omitted from text books for various reasons.   A good method for reacquainting ourselves with history is to take a chronological approach to exploring the past 150 plus years of American history.

Here's a brief timeline of just a few of significant elements of the social history of the US since the Civil War.

In the weeks and months to come we'll take a much more in-depth look at this era of our history.   We'll look at some fascinating people, places, and events which served as the backdrop for our exploration of the southern protestant response to the question "What Would Jesus Do?"
